Plan your defense strategy carefully when you are facing a felony

In our prior two blog posts, we discussed misdemeanor charges. Those charges aren't as severe as felony charges. Anyone who is facing a felony charge is facing the very real prospect of spending time in prison or on probation if they are convicted of the crime with which they are being charged. We know that trying to figure out the criminal justice system, especially if it is your first time going through the system, can be difficult.

One of the first things that you must do when you are charged with a felony is to get your defense strategy planned out. This means that you will have to go through the evidence against you to determine how you will defend yourself against each point. It is imperative that you understand that you don't have to face the charges alone and that you don't have to build your defense on your own.

We can help you to go through the case against you to help you learn about what the prosecution is planning for your case. We can gather the evidence that we need to show your side of the case. We can also determine what defense plan we will use in your case if your case ends up going to a jury trial.

In some cases, we might not have to go to a jury trial to resolve your case. Some felony cases are handled with a plea agreement. This is an option that you have to consider carefully because you will usually have to plead guilty or no contest to the charges, which is something that some defendants aren't willing to do.
